CygNet provides integrated version management for all CygNet client applications and many utilities. Non-CygNet applications and individual files (spreadsheets, documents, PDFs, etc.) can be set up to use this feature as well.
The program that performs version management is the Version Manager (BSSVM.exe). This program works with the CygNet Client Installer (CInstall.exe) and the BLOB Storage Service (BSS) to ensure the most up-to-date applications, utilities, and files are being used. The APPS is also a BLOB Storage Service that stores CygNet application files. The CygNet Help refers to the BSS because any BLOB Storage Service can be used to store version managed application files. You can use the BSS Explorer to view and manage files in a BSS.
Note that version management operations with User Account Control (UAC) enabled will require administrator-level permission. Standard users will be prompted for administrator credentials. Administrative users will be prompted to confirm that changes may be made to the computer. See CygNet and User Account Control for more information.
